A Deer Caught in the Headlights

Modern technology has come a long way since the advent of the VHS camcorder. We now have HD lenses that can pick up the smallest anomalies that, at times, seem to escape the human eye. This, undoubtedly, is the reason for the increase in UFO sightings...a lot of them published on Youtube. Who can forget the viral clip of a zeta reticulian (commonly coined “grey” alien), peaking through Stan Romanek's window in 2008? That was caught on a security camera. Now we have a possible UFO abduction of a deer caught on an automated hunting camera. That was recorded on February 16, 2014 in Jackson County, Mississippi in a hunting area near the Cumbest Bluff.

It all starts at 7:24 p.m. on a dark, snowy night. A few deer appear deep in the woods near Rainer and Edith Shattles’ home. That is normal, what isn’t normal is that a dim light emerges from the trees at around 7:29 p.m.   At 7:53 p.m. an anomalous object appears on the camera, and illuminates the entire lawn and deer, even though the cameras are infrared and don’t emit light. At 7:56 p.m., the unidentified light doubles, lending it a car headlights appearance…except well off the ground near the top of the trees. Could this be an extraterrestrial or ultraterrestrial UFO? It has been observed in the past, that the lights of black triangles double as it rotates towards its tail, and extraterrestrial UFOs are notorious for blending in among the trees. Whatever it is, at 8:09 p.m it focused on a curious and brave deer, which is transfixed on it.

Of course, this could be the NSA on a spy mission with one of their infamous drones, at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised. What I want to know, is what happened to Bambi. The Shattles didn't discuss what happened to Bambi…so that remains a mystery. Did Bambi eventually scamper away with the other deer? Or will she be one of those mutilated animals whose eyes, tongue, torso, and sex organs were removed with surgical precision? Perhaps we’ll never know, until her body is discovered, if she is in fact dead. It’s worth noting there are no tire tracks or footprints around your typical mutilated animal scene, if UFOs are involved and not another animal or hunter. And there are usually bizarre things happening in the vacinity.

"We have unusual things happen around here that happen, but it’s usually associated with our grandchildren. But this case, we didn’t know what it was,” Edith told WLOX. “I was looking for a nice buck to be showing up on the trail camera, actually.”

She examined the footage carefully to find a reasonable explanation for the anomalous object she was looking at, but realized that it was something beyond her understanding. When she showed the photo to her friends, they couldn’t figure it out either. Her husband was certain that it was a UFO, that is an Unidentified Flying Object, but wasn’t sure if it was alien in origin. At true enough, UFOs don't need to be alien in origin.

“Now whether it’s a government drone or what, I wish if nothing else, one of them would step up and say, ‘Yes, that’s ours,” Rainer told the reporter.  I suspect he won’t be hearing from the government any time soon.

He also shared that it’s been fun trying to solve the mystery with his friends,  “It’s a puzzle that may never be solved and it’s one that’s kind of fun, adds a little flavor to life, I guess you could say. We are just fascinated over it, because of the fact that it was right here and it’s real.”

 The sighting is
going into the public annals of unsolved UFO mysteries, for now, but it certainly made new UFO enthusiasts.
